How do I sign up for Recruitment? Several weeks before classes begin, you should be sent information about Greek Life on campus, which allows you to sign up for recruitment before even arriving on campus. If you choose to sign up after arriving on campus, there is a sign up table in The UC Breezeway during lunch hours prior to the first day of Recruitment. You may also sign up during the Sorority Showcase in the Wellness Center. If you have any questions about Recruitment or sign-ups, you can contact the Recruitment Chair Marissa Eubank. |
Why be a Tri Delta? As a member of Delta Delta Delta you instantly gain access to hundreds of amazing girls and a network of over 200,000 fabulous members. The Alpha Chi chapter strives on our diversity and array of campus involvement in such activities as student government, Hurricanettes, honor council, intramurals and many more. Tri Deltas are always up for a good time and what better than good people to have good times with? |
I have this Tri Delta in my English class, and she doesn't talk to me. Does that mean all Tri Deltas are rude? No it doesn't! Sisters in all sororities have to follow certain contact rules before and throughout recruitment. That means that we can't talk to you outside of the actual recruitment parties. The contact rules are meant to give everyone a fair recruitment experience. If you have any questions about contact rules, ask your Rho Gamma. |
This is my first semester in college, and I'm worried about being able to handle the time commitment a sorority will demand. How much time will I actually spend doing Tri Delta stuff? This answer is always the right one: you get as much out of something as you put into it. As a new member, you will be required to attend one new member meeting a week as well as New Member Retreat, Chapter Retreat, and Formal Pledging. Other than that, everything is optional. There's always something going on at the suite, and you'll want to attend a lot more stuff than you need to, because it's all so fun. At Tri Delta, academics always come first, so we encourage you to take care of your grades before getting involved. |
So what's the deal with all of the dolphins? The dolphin is one of Tri Delta's many symbols. It represents clear skies and smooth sailing and looks really cute swimming around on our website. |
I saw this cheesy show on MTV called Sorority Life a couple years ago. Is Tri Delta like that? No way! First and most importantly, we don't haze. The University of Miami has a strict policy against hazing, and Tri Delta's is even more strict. We don't make any sisters, old or new, do anything they don't want to do, and we make it a point to integrate our sisters so that new girls feel at home the second they walk into our suite. |
My boyfriend/non-greek friends are worried that if I join a sorority I won't have time for them. Many of our sisters have non-greek friends and boyfriends. We want to meet them, too! We have plenty of events open to the entire campus community. We also encourage you to get to know fellow greeks, and many of our sisters are close friends with girls in other sororities. We're not an exclusive clique...we want you to meet new people! In Tri Delta, sisters are required to belong to another organization outside Tri Delta to allow them to branch out into the rest of the campus community. |
My parents are worried that if I join a sorority, my grades will suffer. Tell your parents that Tri Delta has resources available to help you keep your grades up. We have sisters in almost every major willing to help you schedule your classes, study for tests, sell you their used books, and lend you their notes. We also have chapter incentives that reward sisters for getting an A on a test and not skipping class. If Tri Delta teaches you anything, it teaches you the time management skills that will help you throughout college. Check out the Academics section on our website for more information. |

What is recruitment like? It's a lot of fun and a great way to start off the year. When you register for Recruitment in through the mail, in the UC Breezeway, or during Sorority Showcase, your Rho Gamma will be contacting you with everything you need to know.

I don't know if I fit the sorority girl stereotype. Good! Neither do we. Tri Delta is made up of diverse individuals who contribute their leadership skills and personal talents to the sorority. There's something for everyone in Tri Delta. |

What do Tri Deltas do for fun? Tri Deltas work hard and play hard. We have themed mixers with all of the campus fraternities as well as date functions to give you an excuse to buy a new dress. On the weekends, you will always see Tri Delta sisters together, and if you're too tired to go out, bring a DVD to the suite and microwave some popcorn. Whether it's over late night cram sessions, a trip to the beach, or cheering on the Canes, Tri Deltas always have fun when they're together.

Does this mean you girls are really friends? The most important thing you can do during recruitment is just look around and see how the sisters in each suite interact with each other. Friendship is what it's all about in the end. Tri Delta places a huge emphasis on developing sisterhood, and the results are evident in our success in everything we do.
